A re creation of the love story that William Shakespeare would once tell us in which real characters mingle with fictional ones in an attemt to turn the tragic denouement into a happy ending.

Romeo and Juliet are two adolescents in love who are secretly enjoying their romance.

On learning about this love affair Juliet’s mother, a woman obsessed with and trapped in the fantasies that William Shakespeare once wrote, dooms such love because of the fatal coincidence of  their names. Dreading that the tragic story could occur in the present as a design from the past, she will oppose the relationship and decide to marry her daughter to Lord Paris- one of the Prince’s friends.

Romeo, trying to prevent the wedding,  will pass himself off as Paris in order to deceive Juliet’s mother  and remain close to Juliet. However, his plan will be thwarted by Juliet who will fiercely reject him on not recognizing his true identity.

Neither Romeo nor Julier

A letter from Friar Laurence and a powerful potion will help Juliet avoid the wedding by pretending to be dead.

Unable to bear her own despair and remorse on seeing Juliet lying dead, her mother will take the blame and heartily repent having done so much harm.

Romeo, still disguised as Paris, will at first believe that Juliet has died, but soon afterward he will find out that she’s just asleep and decide to reveal the truth to her mother.

After discovering that Juliet is alive, and appraising Romeo’s good faith, Juliet’s mother will let him marry her daughter.

Juliet’s mother will realize that William Shakespeare’s tragedy eventually has a happy ending and, surprisingly, it was her who has managed to change the course of history.
